I am Santa Rosa Landscaper!
I’ve contemplated writing about my landscaping adventures for years. I’ve designed, constructed, and installed hundreds of different projects throughout my career and I am still as excited about it as I was when I first started! I know, seems crazy right? I guess when you find your passion in life, it can keep your fire burning as long as you let it.
So what does a landscaper blog about you ask? I am not even really sure I know. Usually I am showing all the pics of the recent work I have done, showing all these beautiful backyards I have created. I love to do that. Nothing makes happier than to see the final work completed and the surprised and happy look on my customer’s face. Because I love what I do, it makes it really easy for me to create landscape art. I love installing sprinkler systems and irrigation and turning on the water and watching the water rainbow over the landscape that will soon be covered with grass, trees, bushes, and plants. I love building retaining walls and filling the space with beautiful flowers.  I could sit here all day long and write about all the things I love about landscaping, but you’d probably stop reading here. So let me try to write something of value for you…
  1. This may be obvious but whenever you are doing yard work and removing debris, grab a tarp and us it as a waste receptacle. When you are ready to toss all the debris in the brown bin, it is much easier to do so with a tarp.
  2. Instead of creating an edge around your landscape with plastic or metal barrier, create a natural edge by trimming the foliage to the desired length and line. This will provide you with more versatility in case you wanted to change your landscape in the future.
  3. When planting a new tree, plant, flowers, or bush, always use a started fertilizer. This will give your little friends a nice little boost.
  4. Deciding whether to buy bulk or bagged soil? Only buy bulk if it can be dropped where it will be used, otherwise there is too much effort expended to transport the dirt to the desired location.
  5. Garden tools are essential for the gardener. We recommend that you only buy the best tools available mainly because they are more durable, will last much longer, and are much more effective than their cheaper counterpart.
  6. You don’t need to throw the leaves that have fallen from trees in the garbage! Guess what, they make excellent fertilizer. When moving your lawn, leave the debris there and mow over them. This will cut the leaves into smaller pieces aiding in the composting process.
Well, I hope you have found some of these tips helpful. I will continue to write about the cool things I am doing. I would also like to thank H & M Landscape Supply because they have been providing me with exceptional materials and customer service for a long time and I could not do what I am doing without them. When I am working in Marin County I truly enjoy using A&S Landscape Materials Inc. They have excellent materials and great customer services.
